New Delhi, April 28 (NationPress) In response to remarks from Congress MP Shashi Tharoor that dismissed criticisms of India’s intelligence agencies following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, JD-U leader K.C. Tyagi emphasized that while intelligence failures can occur globally, the magnitude of this incident suggests extensive planning by the terrorists.
In an interview with IANS, Tyagi stated, “There is indeed an intelligence failure, but such occurrences can happen in any nation. I concur with that. However, the reality that such a major attack took place cannot be classified as accidental; it indicates that the terrorists had been active for an extended period.”
Tharoor had previously defended the intelligence agencies, asserting that no nation possesses foolproof intelligence, pointing to the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, as an illustration.
He remarked that while some operations succeed, the public is predominantly informed about the failures.
Tyagi’s comments contribute to the intensifying political dialogue following the deadly terrorist attack in J&K’s Pahalgam, reigniting discussions about national security readiness.
On other urgent matters, Tyagi shared his views on China’s advice to Pakistan amidst rising cross-border tensions, stating, “China’s counsel to Pakistan is noteworthy. Although China is viewed as an ally of Pakistan, it has urged them to exercise restraint. This conveys a significant message,” he told IANS.
Regarding AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s strong criticism of Pakistan, Tyagi expressed his agreement: “I concur with Mr. Owaisi’s comparison of Pakistan to an extremist terrorist state. His remarks resonate with public sentiment across the nation,” he added.
As for the opposition’s call for a special parliamentary session to address national security, Tyagi voiced conditional support.
“If the special session is convened to unify the opposition with the government in demanding decisive action against Pakistan, then it is a positive initiative. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and leaders from various parties have already exhibited unity on this front,” he concluded.
