Bengaluru, Jan 22 (NationPress) India's hiring activity has risen by a remarkable 12 percent over the last six months, with a 31 percent year-on-year increase in recruitment for December, as reported on Wednesday.

The AI job sector has experienced a substantial 42 percent growth over the last two years, with a 14 percent increase anticipated by 2025, according to findings from foundit, a jobs and talent platform.

This rise spans 22 out of 27 monitored sectors, with consumer electronics, manufacturing, and construction and engineering leading the way with growth rates of 60 percent, 57 percent, and 57 percent, respectively.

“The uptick in hiring activity across various sectors highlights the resilience, adaptability, and dynamism of India’s job market,” stated V Suresh, CEO of foundit.

Notably, the explosive growth in AI at 42 percent in just two years signifies a pivotal shift in essential skill sets becoming key economic drivers.

“With an expected 14 percent further growth in AI hiring by 2025, we are witnessing a transformation where AI is no longer a distant concept but a crucial part of India's current and future workforce,” he added.

In December, job demand rose by 5 percent month-on-month (MoM), with the hiring index achieving an impressive 334—a clear indication of increasing business confidence and economic momentum.

Over the past three months, an 8 percent rise in hiring activity demonstrated ongoing progress, showcasing the resilience and adaptability of Indian enterprises in a changing market.

This consistent upward trajectory highlights the nation’s dedication to creating sustainable, long-term employment opportunities through strategic initiatives, according to the report.

Medical positions saw a significant 44 percent annual growth, driven by advancements in telemedicine, diagnostics, and specialized nursing, with health tech roles like healthcare analysts also witnessing a 12 percent increase.

Coimbatore topped the list with a 58 percent year-on-year growth, followed by Bengaluru and Chennai with increases of 41 percent and 37 percent, respectively, as per the report.
