New Delhi, Feb 5 (NationPress) Voting for the Milkipur bye-election in the Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh commenced on Wednesday at 7 am. A total of 370,829 voters are set to cast their votes to determine the outcome for 10 candidates competing for the seat.
The primary candidates for this significant Assembly seat include Chandrabhanu Paswan representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Ajit Prasad from the Samajwadi Party (SP).
This Milkipur constituency is reserved for the Scheduled Castes (SC) and is being closely monitored due to its political importance within the state.
The stakes have increased following the SP’s unexpected win in the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat last year, shortly after the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
To guarantee transparency and a smooth electoral process, extensive security measures have been put in place. Webcasting will occur at 210 polling stations, while videography will be executed at 25 stations.
In total, 71 polling stations are equipped with micro observers, nine flying squad teams, nine static monitoring teams, six video monitoring teams, two super zonal magistrates, four zonal magistrates, and 41 sector magistrates to oversee the electoral process.
This Milkipur bypoll has evolved into a prestige contest between the Samajwadi Party and the BJP, with both parties exerting considerable effort to secure this seat.
The result of this bypoll will not only impact local political dynamics but will also gauge the sentiment of the electorate in Uttar Pradesh, which is vital for upcoming elections.
As voting kicks off today, all attention will be on the voter turnout and the results, which are anticipated to significantly influence the political landscape of the region.
