Madrid, April 24 (NationPress) Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has been confirmed to miss the rest of the season due to a groin injury sustained during Wednesday’s 1-0 La Liga victory against Getafe, the club declared on Thursday.
The 22-year-old was replaced at halftime, and subsequent medical evaluations revealed a complete tear of his left adductor tendon.
"Following tests conducted today on Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a full tear of the tendon in his left abductor muscle. His recovery will be evaluated," the La Liga club stated in a release on Thursday.
Reports suggest that this injury could sideline the French international for roughly three months.
Having appeared 34 times for Real this season across all competitions, Camavinga will also miss the upcoming Club World Cup planned for June and July.
This injury is a notable setback for Real Madrid as they prepare for their Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on Saturday. The team is currently addressing fitness issues for Kylian Mbappe, Ferland Mendy, and David Alaba.
In Wednesday's match, Real Madrid secured another three points in their pursuit of the La Liga title with a disciplined performance, highlighted by Arda Guler's goal midway through the first half.
The Turkish international scored from the edge of the penalty area after Getafe goalkeeper David Soria saved a shot from Brahim Diaz, who also featured in a significantly altered Madrid starting lineup.
Although Soria made numerous crucial saves, Getafe struggled to challenge Thibaut Courtois in the Madrid goal.
Currently, Real Madrid is positioned second in La Liga, trailing leaders Barcelona by four points with five matches left to play.
