Manchester, Feb 2 (NationPress) Manchester United has confirmed the acquisition of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce for a reported fee of 30 million pounds. The Denmark international has committed to a contract lasting until June 2030, with an option for an additional year.

Dorgu, at just 20 years old, has made 57 appearances for Lecce, contributing five goals. The adaptable wingback has had a remarkable season, ranking second in ground duels won in Serie A and attempting the fourth most take-ons of any defender in the league. He also made an impressive debut for his national team, scoring with his first touch in September.

“I am extremely proud to become a Manchester United player; this is a truly special day for my entire family. I look forward to collaborating with Ruben Amorim; his vision for this team and the club's future is genuinely thrilling. There is a clear growth plan laid out for me, and I believe that Manchester United is the ideal place to achieve my potential and realize my significant ambitions,” Dorgu expressed.

The Red Devils are pleased to finalize Dorgu’s signing ahead of the Winter transfer window's closure on Monday. This acquisition aligns with head coach Ruben Amorim’s new back five system, as he seeks players who fit his tactical approach.

This announcement follows the confirmation of England's young star Ayden Heaven, who has also joined from Arsenal with a contract until June 2029, including an option for an additional year.

Jason Wilcox, Manchester United's technical director, remarked, “Patrick is a truly exciting talent; his strong defensive and offensive skills, versatility, and work ethic will make him a crucial part of Ruben Amorim’s squad.

“Patrick has started his career exceptionally well, and at only 20, we know he will keep developing under the guidance of our outstanding coaching team.”
