Mumbai, Feb 3 (NationPress) UP Warriorz (UPW) have revealed that Chinelle Henry from the West Indies will take the place of the injured Australian Alyssa Healy in the forthcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, which starts on February 14.
Healy, who has been the captain of UP Warriorz during the first two seasons of the WPL, is sidelined for the third season due to a foot injury.
The WPL announcement noted, "Henry, who represents the West Indies, has accumulated 62 T20Is, scoring 473 runs and taking 22 wickets in T20Is. She joins UPW for Rs 30 lakh."
In another development, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have selected Heather Graham and Kim Garth as replacements for Sophie Devine and Kate Cross, respectively.
Both Devine and Cross will miss WPL 2025 for personal reasons.
Graham, the Australian all-rounder, has participated in 5 T20Is, claiming 8 wickets. Garth has played 59 T20Is, alongside 56 ODIs and 4 Tests, amassing 764 T20I runs and 49 T20I wickets.
Garth had previously played for Gujarat Giants (GG) in the WPL. Both Graham and Garth have joined RCB for Rs 30 lakh each.
Earlier, RCB had signed Charlie Dean as a replacement for the injured Sophie Molineux, who is out of the third season due to a knee injury, also for Rs 30 lakh.
The third edition of this women's T20 league will take place in four cities: Baroda, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Mumbai.
The tournament kicks off on February 14 at the newly constructed BCA Stadium in Baroda, where the Gujarat Giants will face off against the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the season opener.
Baroda will host a total of six matches before the action shifts to Bengaluru, where RCB will have their first home game against the formidable Mumbai Indians (MI), the champions of the first WPL edition, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on February 21.
Lucknow will debut as a WPL venue this season, with UPW scheduled to play three matches at their home ground starting March 3.
The final segment of the tournament will take place in Mumbai, with the Cricket Club of India (CCI) hosting the last two league matches and two playoff games.
The grand finale for the coveted trophy is set for March 15.
