Pune, Feb 2 (NationPress) The quarterfinal clash of the Ranji Trophy featuring Jammu and Kashmir against Kerala is scheduled to take place at the MCA International Stadium in Pune from February 8-12, as confirmed by the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) on Sunday.
Previous reports from IANS indicated that the match would be hosted in Pune instead of Jammu, the home ground for the J&K Ranji team, owing to adverse winter weather predicted in the region. The MCA has officially stated that the quarter-final's venue was shifted from Jammu to Pune based on weather advisories received from BCCI officials.
“Our facilities are well-equipped to host this cricket match, and I am confident that both teams will have an excellent playing experience under these conditions. We anticipate a thrilling contest and wish Jammu & Kashmir and Kerala the best of luck,” remarked MCA President Rohit Pawar.
According to the updated regulations, Jammu and Kashmir will act as the host team after topping Elite Group A with 36 points. “We have a solid history of organizing matches while adhering to the BCCI protocols. Our venue is free from weather-related issues, making it the perfect choice for this significant match,” added MCA Secretary Kamlesh Pisal.
Jammu & Kashmir has qualified for the quarter-finals of the Ranji Trophy after a gap of five years. Conversely, Kerala has made it to the quarterfinals for the first time in six years, marking their third appearance in this prestigious first-class tournament.
Other quarter-final matches set to commence on February 8 include the Vidarbha-Tamil Nadu showdown at VCA Stadium in Nagpur, the Haryana-Mumbai encounter at Chaudhry Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli, and the Saurashtra-Gujarat face-off at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Following these matches, two semi-finals will be held from February 17-21, culminating in the title match scheduled from February 26 to March 2.
