New Delhi, Feb 2 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside the entire cricketing community, celebrated the ‘Nari Shakti’ (Women Power) showcased by the Indian U19 women’s team for clinching their second consecutive ICC U19 World Cup at the Bayuemas Oval on Sunday.
The dominant Indian squad successfully defended their U19 Women’s T20 World Cup title with a nine-wicket victory over South Africa in the final. In the wake of this triumph, the Prime Minister joined millions of Indians in acknowledging the remarkable achievement and praised the ‘determination and grit’ exhibited by the players.

In addition to the Prime Minister, ICC Chairman Jay Shah also recognized the Indian team and commended Malaysia cricket for hosting the tournament, which he deemed ‘essential for the global growth of the women’s game.’

The final match was decisively one-sided, featuring an outstanding all-round performance from Gongadi Trisha.
After being asked to field first, India’s bowlers were relentless, restricting South Africa to a meager 82/9 in 20 overs. Trisha led the bowling effort, taking three wickets for just 15 runs, while Parunika Sisodia, Aayushi Shukla, and Vaishnavi Sharma each contributed two wickets in dismantling the Proteas batting order.
In pursuit of a modest target of 83, India’s batters faced little difficulty. Although G Kamalini was dismissed early, vice-captain Sanika Chalke stabilized the innings with 26 runs, while Trisha remained unbeaten at 44 off 33 balls, hitting eight boundaries to lead India to victory in just 11.2 overs. India secured the win with 52 balls to spare, demonstrating their dominance on the global stage.
For her outstanding all-round performance throughout the tournament, Gongadi Trisha was named the Player of the Tournament. She scored 309 runs and took seven wickets, playing a pivotal role in India's triumphant campaign.
