Birmingham, Feb 3 (NationPress) Aston Villa have secured the loan acquisition of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United for the remainder of the current season, as announced by the Premier League club on Monday (IST).

The England forward is now Villa’s third addition during the January transfer window, joining Spanish full-back Andres Garcia from Levante and Donyell Malen, a Netherlands international, from Borussia Dortmund.

This season, Rashford has participated in 15 Premier League matches for Man Utd, scoring in head coach Ruben Amorim’s inaugural game—a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on November 24—before netting two additional goals in a 4-0 triumph over Everton the following week.

He has not featured since being excluded from the squad for the Manchester derby on December 15.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Manchester United and Aston Villa for facilitating this loan arrangement,” Rashford shared on his Instagram account.

“I had the privilege of several clubs reaching out to me, but choosing Aston Villa was straightforward—I genuinely appreciate the way Aston Villa has been performing this season and the ambitions of the manager. I am eager to play football and can’t wait to get started. I wish everyone at Manchester United the best for the remainder of the season,” he further remarked.

The 27-year-old has tallied 138 goals across more than 400 appearances, having emerged from the ranks at Old Trafford. He has celebrated victories in the Europa League, two FA Cups, and two League Cups with his childhood club.

His most prolific season was in 2022/23, during which he netted 30 goals across all competitions—the first United player to achieve this milestone since Robin van Persie in 2013. He was honored as both the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year that year.

The forward, capable of playing in various positions along the front line, has also scored 17 goals for England and has represented his nation in two World Cups and two European Championships.
