New Delhi, Feb 8 (NationPress) Rohan Jaitley, who serves as the president of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), has become the top contender to assume the position of Joint Secretary within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The role has been open since Devajit Saikia was elevated to Secretary after Jay Shah was elected as ICC Chairman in December 2024.
The BCCI has planned a Special General Meeting (SGM) on March 1 at its Mumbai headquarters, where the election for the Joint Secretary will be conducted.
Reports indicate that other candidates include former Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Abhishek Dalmiya and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official Sanjay Naik. Nevertheless, Jaitley stands as the most robust candidate for the position.
Saikia, the former Joint Secretary, transitioned to the Secretary role last month after Shah stepped down. The BCCI has officially notified all state associations regarding the upcoming election, stressing that the appointment of the new Joint Secretary will be the primary topic of discussion.
Should Jaitley be appointed, it would enhance his increasing influence in the administration of Indian cricket. If elected, he is anticipated to play a significant role in important board decisions, especially with major international tournaments and domestic cricket reforms on the horizon.
