Mumbai, Feb 1 (NationPress) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) celebrated remarkable accomplishments in Indian cricket at the esteemed Naman Awards held on Saturday. A defining moment of the evening was the conferral of the prestigious Col. C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award to Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar, honoring his unmatched contributions to Indian cricket over more than two decades.
This Lifetime Achievement Award recognized the cricket icon's extraordinary 24-year international career, during which he not only achieved personal milestones but also bore the aspirations of an entire nation amidst challenges and victories. It acknowledged the legacy of a player who turned Indian cricket into a global sensation, as stated by the BCCI in a press release on Saturday.
For over twenty years, Tendulkar's bat painted poetry on cricket pitches worldwide, establishing an unparalleled legacy marked by 100 international centuries and 34,357 international runs. From his debut as a 16-year-old talent to becoming the first batsman to notch a double century in ODIs, Tendulkar’s journey was characterized by a relentless quest for excellence. He remains the only cricketer to have played in 200 Test matches. His unmatched dedication, skill, and humility solidified his status as a global sports icon.
In his acceptance speech, Tendulkar expressed deep gratitude for the award, stating, "Deeply honoured to receive the Col. C. K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award. My cricketing journey, which spanned 24 years was never mine alone; it belonged to every coach’s guidance, every teammate’s trust, every fan’s unwavering support, and my family’s belief, love, and sacrifices.
"This award serves as a reminder to continue giving back to the sport and the community that has provided me with so much. To the @BCCI and every cricket enthusiast: thank you for allowing me to represent India with an open heart and limitless boundaries," Tendulkar remarked on Saturday.
