Jamshedpur, Feb 1 (NationPress) The 18-year-old amateur Vishesh Sharma from Hyderabad delivered an impressive second-round performance, scoring eight-under 63, totaling 13-under 129 to secure victory by two strokes in the Pre-Qualifying III of PGTI Qualifying School 2025, held at the Golmuri Golf Course on Saturday. Among a field of 129 competitors, the top 28 players progressed to the Final Qualifying Stage, with the cut set at two-under 140.
Vishesh Sharma (66, 63), whose second round of 63 marked the lowest score of the Pre-Qualifying Stage, advanced two positions from his overnight tied third place. A former India No. 1 in the junior category, he began the day just one shot behind the leader and took the top spot thanks to two eagles, six birdies, and two bogeys in the second round.
During his first appearance at the PGTI Q School, Vishesh made a remarkable drive on the par-4 fourth green, sinking a 20-footer for his first eagle. He followed it up by chipping in for his second eagle on the ninth hole and made a crucial birdie on the second with a superb bunker shot.
“My putting and course management were the highlights of my round. I effectively bounced back after the bogeys today. I’m thrilled with my strong start at the Q School, which showcases my potential. The 15-year-old amateur Neil Jolly from Chandigarh and Tushar Pannu from Karnal finished tied for second with totals of 11-under 131.
In total, 80 players advanced from the Pre-Qualifying Stage to join the 48 exempted players in the Final Stage, bringing the total field to 128 competitors. The Final Stage is scheduled from February 4 to 7 at the same venue, Golmuri Golf Course in Jamshedpur.
