New Delhi, Feb 21 (NationPress) Delhi's newly appointed Minister for Education, Home, and Power, Ashish Sood, announced on Friday that the BJP government is actively working on a scheme that would provide Rs 2,500 monthly to every woman in the city as discussions on the details progress.
“Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is diligently addressing this matter, and we will soon share updates regarding its advancement,” Sood informed IANS, countering claims made by AAP leader Atishi that the BJP is slowing down on this commitment.
“The BJP does not engage in making empty promises like the AAP. The formalities surrounding the scheme are currently under discussion by the CM,” he stated.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the inaugural Cabinet meeting of the government has taken steps toward the implementation of the Ayushman Yojana, which offers Rs 10 lakh in free medical treatment to residents of Delhi. “We are committed to fulfilling every ‘Modi ki Guarantee’,” he asserted.
Regarding educational matters, Sood emphasized the necessity to evaluate the department’s needs before progressing.
“Our government faces significant expectations from the public, but we must first assess the situation before we can start delivering,” he noted.
In a recent video, former Chief Minister Atishi accused the ruling BJP of failing to uphold its promise that the inaugural Cabinet meeting would sanction the Rs 2,500 monthly assistance for women in Delhi.
“All women in Delhi anticipated the scheme's approval during the first Cabinet meeting on Thursday evening. However, on the very first day of the new government, the BJP has begun to renege on its promises,” she remarked.
She mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had pledged to endorse the Rs 2,500 monthly financial aid for women during the initial Cabinet meeting of the new BJP administration.
“It is disheartening that a woman Chief Minister has not honored a commitment made to the women of the city,” she lamented.
