Bhopal, Jan 24 (NationPress) National champion Ganemat Sekhon continued her impressive streak with a dominant victory in women’s Skeet, securing the 3rd Digvijay Singh Memorial Shooting Championship (Shotgun) title by achieving an outstanding 56 hits in the 60-shot final. This score of 56 also matched the current Olympic record in this event, held at the MP Shooting Academy range on Friday.
Adding to the excitement for local supporters, Rituraj Singh Bundela excelled in men’s skeet by triumphing in an intense 38-shot shoot-off for gold against Gurjoat Khangura from Punjab, after both competitors finished the final with 55 hits each.
Rituraj actually clinched victory in two significant shoot-offs that day. The first was against Olympian Angad Bajwa to qualify for the top six, as both ended with 118 hits in the qualification round. Another Olympian, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka, who qualified third with 121, ultimately secured the bronze with a score of 46 hits.
In contrast, Ganemat qualified for the final in third place, while Raiza Dhillon, another Olympian, led the 19-strong field with a score of 118.
Ganemat, however, dominated the final, showcasing the confidence gained from her recent victories at the World University Games and the Nationals, leaving no chance for her competitors with a nearly flawless performance.
Raiza took home the silver medal with a score of 53, while Rajasthan’s Darshna Rathore claimed bronze after finishing with 42 hits from 50 shots.
