Bengaluru, April 23 (NationPress) Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi has taken aim at Robert Vadra, the spouse of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, asserting that Vadra's comment claiming ‘Muslims are vulnerable in India’ indirectly endorses the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
In response to Vadra’s remarks regarding the terror attack, Joshi stated: “While the entire nation is condemning the terrorist act, Robert Vadra is making a statement that seems to justify it. This is utterly disgraceful. Muslims in India are not vulnerable. Like everyone else, they live in peace and harmony, enjoying complete safety. However, fundamentalists are disturbing the peace in the country and society. Failing to understand this, Robert Vadra is instead blaming Hindus and making statements that seem to defend the terrorists.”
He urged that Vadra should apologise to the nation and advised him to communicate with greater discretion and responsibility.
In a related development, in Srirangapatna, Congress MLA Ramesh Bandisiddegowda attributed the Pahalgam terrorist attack to the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Minister Joshi condemned this assertion, declaring, “Congress leaders persist with their narrative of referring to terrorists as ‘our brothers’. Such behavior is highly condemnable.”
“It is truly shameful that Congress leaders continue to behave so frivolously. While the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making every effort, both domestically and internationally, to combat terrorism, Congress leaders are issuing statements that appear to justify such acts. This is a tragedy,” Pralhad Joshi stated.
Vadra, commenting a day after the attack, suggested that the violence stemmed from the increasing divide between Hindus and Muslims in India, which he claimed was being intensified by the BJP-led government’s ‘Hindutva’ agenda.
“In our country, we see that this government promotes Hindutva, causing discomfort and distress among minorities...If you analyze this terrorist act that occurred, if the terrorists are targeting people’s identity, why are they doing this? Because a divide has emerged in our country between Hindus and Muslims...” Vadra remarked.
