New Delhi, Jan 20 (NationPress) Following the success of DigiLocker for citizens, the government has introduced ‘Entity Locker’, an innovative digital platform aimed at revolutionizing the management and verification of documents related to businesses and organizations.
Developed by the National eGovernance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), this secure, cloud-based solution streamlines the storage, sharing, and verification of documents for a variety of entities, including large corporations, micro, small, and medium Enterprises (MSMEs), trusts, startups, and societies.
Entity Locker is constructed on a strong technological foundation that connects with numerous government and regulatory systems, providing real-time access and verification of documents through integration with government databases; consent-driven methods for safe sharing of sensitive information; Aadhaar-authenticated role-based access management to ensure responsibility; and 10 GB of encrypted cloud storage for secure document handling, along with legally valid digital signatures for document authentication.
The platform serves as a vital part of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), supporting the vision outlined in the Union Budget 2024-25 for improved digital governance and streamlined business operations.
By incorporating these functionalities, the platform seeks to decrease administrative burdens, shorten processing durations, and improve operational efficiency for businesses, as stated by the ministry.
Entity Locker’s smooth integration with systems such as the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN), the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), and other regulatory bodies grants businesses immediate access to essential documents.
This platform simplifies document sharing and access with partners and stakeholders, promotes accountability by tracking all document-related actions, consolidates storage and security to lessen administrative tasks, and reduces document processing durations alongside operational delays.
The platform accommodates various scenarios, including vendor verification on procurement portals; expedited loan applications for MSMEs; compliance documentation for FSSAI; vendor verification during registration with GSTN, MCA, and in the tendering process; and streamlined corporate annual filings.
