Imtiaz Ali Returns to His School in Patna
Mumbai, Dec 28 (NationPress) Renowned filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, celebrated for works like Rockstar, Jab We Met, Tamasha, and Amar Singh Chamkila, revisited his childhood school.

Mumbai, Dec 28 (NationPress) Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, celebrated for his films like Rockstar, Jab We Met, Tamasha, and Amar Singh Chamkila, made a nostalgic visit to his alma mater.

On Saturday, the filmmaker shared a series of images from his visit to his school located in Patna via his Instagram account.

In his caption, he reflected on the memories from his school days and expressed his feelings about returning. He wrote, “nervous kid back to walk your corridors!! St Michaels Patna - also my school - 3rd to 8th standard. The staircase that fascinated me, the marvellous statue I enjoyed looking at, the tree I fell from and fractured my arm and the unique floor mop! Remembering my buddy Ved, remembering Satyarth, Faiz, Manish Madhukar, Nirvikar Prasad, Faisal, Irshad and so many others, thanks to Manish Anand.”

This year, his streaming film Amar Singh Chamkila, which narrates the life of the late Punjabi folk singer, has captured many hearts and positively influenced the rising stardom of Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh.

Amar Singh Chamkila is considered one of the finest live stage performers in Punjab's history and holds immense popularity among rural audiences. His monthly bookings consistently surpassed the number of days in a month. Chamkila is often hailed as one of the greatest and most influential Punjabi artists of all time.

Explaining the motivation behind creating this film, Imtiaz previously remarked to the media during the film’s trailer launch in March this year, “Sometimes in the age of social media and living in cities, you feel disconnected from the villages where the masses reside. Chamkila was a man of the masses, he would speak directly to the crowd through his music. Metaphorically speaking, he opened a certain dimension from where he obtained his music and understood the pulse of the audience and what would resonate.”

“We would ponder how he communicated in the language of the masses. As artists, we all aspire to connect with the masses. The reason behind making this film, for me, is to feel the vibe that exists in the interiors of Punjab and to present that to the audience through this story,” he added.
