Jigar Saraiya Reveals the Influence of His Wife on His Musical Journey
Mumbai, Jan 4 (NationPress) Composer and mentor of 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa', Jigar Saraiya, discusses the significant influence his playback singer wife, Priya Saraiya, has had on him and his music collaborator, Sachin Sanghvi.

Mumbai, Jan 4 (NationPress) Composer and mentor of “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa”, Jigar Saraiya, shared insights on the profound effect his wife, playback singer Priya Saraiya, has had on both his music and his creative partner, Sachin Sanghvi.

The show features notable jury members from the music field, with a special appearance by Jigar’s wife, lyricist and playback singer Priya Saraiya, in a forthcoming episode.

Regarding Priya, Jigar acknowledged her as a crucial influence behind the success of the Sachin-Jigar partnership, highlighting her ability to write lyrics for songs like ‘Saibo’ and ‘Jeena Jeena’ in a mere 15 minutes.

“I am speaking from the heart. Few writers possess the ability to craft lyrics across various genres with such ease, and Priya is undeniably one of them. From classics like ‘Saibo’ to hits like ‘Slowly Slowly’, ‘Mileya Mileya’, and ‘Mere Mehboob’, Priya has significantly enhanced our compositions,” Jigar remarked.

He elaborated on feeling fortunate to receive such exceptional lyrics for him and Sachin.

“Whenever we share a melody with Priya, she doesn’t send her lyrics straight to me. She always shares them with Sachin first, ensuring a thorough review before they reach me. In hindsight, this has been a hidden blessing. Had I been the one approving them, these songs might not have achieved such incredible success!”

Referring to her as his “best friend”, Jigar continued: “Priya has significantly influenced both Sachin's and my lives, and we are truly grateful for it. There was a moment when we had no song prepared and only 15 minutes before a meeting, but as we strolled towards the studio, we thought of the word ‘Saibo’, and Priya brilliantly created the chorus by the time we arrived in just 15 minutes.”

Remembering another situation, he recounted: When a producer was on their way, and we had no song ready, we decided to draft a song, and by the time the producer came upstairs from the entrance, Priya had written the lyrics for ‘Jeena Jeena’ from beginning to end.

Jigar feels incredibly fortunate to have Priya as his wife, “who is also among the finest writers in our industry.”

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is broadcast on Zee TV.
