Agartala, Feb 5 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is showcasing the northeastern region as ‘Astalakshmi’, acknowledging the significant development and vast resources of the eight northeastern states.
Participating virtually from Delhi in a job offer letters distribution event in Agartala, the Home Minister remarked that this region was once characterized by road blockades, violence, terrorist activities, drug issues, corruption, smuggling, anti-national undertakings, and ethnic conflicts.
“Since Modi ji assumed the role of Prime Minister, the northeastern area has transformed into a developed region, boasting enhanced connectivity, superior infrastructure, agricultural advancement, and a peaceful, investment-friendly environment,” he added.
To further the Prime Minister’s vision for the northeastern states and oversee ongoing developmental initiatives, central ministers have visited the region over 700 times in the past decade.
Amit Shah emphasized that corruption and violence have seen a significant decline in Tripura since the BJP took control in the state in 2018.
“Tripura was previously regarded as landlocked, but it has now become a land-linked state. New airports and roads have been constructed, alongside enhancements in irrigation, water supply, electricity, and other infrastructures,” he noted.
Expressing gratitude to the newly appointed 2806 candidates across various Tripura government departments, the Home Minister assured that these appointments were made transparently, without irregularities or recommendations.
He also mentioned that there are currently no militants in Tripura as all extremists have surrendered and reintegrated into society.
Under the leadership of former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and the current Chief Minister Manik Saha, Tripura is experiencing rapid growth across all sectors.
“In the past, only communist party members secured jobs during the Left regime. Now, the BJP government ensures government job allocations are conducted in a transparent manner. The seven years under BJP governance vastly differ from the periods of Congress and Left rule, marking a new era for the state,” he stated.
The Home Minister added that three accords have been signed in Tripura to foster peace and development, and a permanent settlement for thousands of Reang migrants from Mizoram has been successfully completed in the state.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, along with his 10 cabinet colleagues and Chief Secretary J K Sinha, participated in the job offer letters distribution event on Wednesday.
