Bengaluru, Feb 5 (NationPress) In a shocking event, a man fatally attacked his wife in broad daylight near their son's school, witnessed by the public, in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
The tragic occurrence happened in Vinayakanagar, Hebbagodi, close to Anekal town. The victim has been identified as Sriganga, aged 29, while the alleged assailant is Mohanraj. The police have apprehended the suspect.
Reports from the authorities indicate that Sriganga and Mohanraj were married for seven years and shared a six-year-old son. Two years prior, Mohanraj became suspicious of his wife’s relationship with one of his friends, resulting in frequent disputes. The couple had been living apart for the last eight months.
On the night before the incident, Mohanraj visited Sriganga's home to see their child, during which a heated argument ensued. On the morning of the incident, while Sriganga was on her bike to drop off their son at school, Mohanraj, who was waiting for her, confronted and assaulted her in the street. He repeatedly stabbed her near the school grounds.
Bystanders quickly transported the critically injured Sriganga to a nearby private hospital, but unfortunately, she did not survive her injuries.
In response to the incident, Bengaluru Rural’s Superintendent of Police (SP) S.K. Baba stated that the attack occurred as Sriganga was dropping off her son. Despite being rushed to the hospital, her life could not be saved.
"The police have taken Mohanraj into custody, and legal actions are underway against him. The assault took place near the school area, and a formal case has been registered at the Hebbagodi police station," he noted.
Subsequent investigations revealed that Mohanraj and his friend worked at the same factory. At one time, Mohanraj had permitted his friend to stay at his home, which created tension between him and Sriganga. He suspected that she was involved with his friend, which intensified their marital conflicts.
After their separation, Mohanraj allegedly became furious after not seeing his son for several months. The police are currently verifying his statements and have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
