Mumbai, March 14 (NationPress) On this special day, as Aamir Khan celebrates his milestone 60th birthday on March 14, 2025, his co-star from '1947: Earth', Nandita Das, shared a heartwarming birthday message for him on Instagram.
Nandita expressed, "Joining the chorus of well-wishers, I extend my warmest wishes to Aamir Khan on his 60th birthday!"
Reflecting on their initial encounter, she reminisced, "I first crossed paths with Aamir around 1997/98 during the film Earth (known as 1947 Earth in India… we prefer to clarify things!). I believe it's one of his most exceptional performances. Although he betrays my character in the film (spoiler alert!), we developed a great camaraderie that has lasted over the years."
She included a nostalgic image from '1947: Earth' with her post.
Nandita also revealed that Aamir was eager for her to participate in his 1999 romantic film, 'Mann'.
She recounted, "Shortly after, he expressed interest in casting me for 'Mann'. I suspect the director, Inder Kumar, and producer, Ashok Thakeria, were not pleased with the decision! This dark-skinned girl, who had acted in films like Fire and Hazaar Chaurasi ki Maa, was being considered for a major commercial project. No way! However, who could turn down Aamir? At that time, I wasn't serious about acting. Nonetheless, Aamir arranged a photoshoot where I was made to appear fairer than him! After that, I knew I didn’t want to take on the role! Even today, when I meet them, we share a laugh about it! I’m sure when they see this photo, it will bring a smile to their faces. Thank you, Aamir, for believing in me."
She shared an image from the photoshoot on her IG.
Nandita concluded with, "We have crossed paths occasionally since then. Now at 60, Aamir remains a humble individual filled with curiosity and aspirations. May all your dreams be realized, and may you continue to dream wisely! Hope you had a wonderful day!"
The last picture in her post was a recent photo of herself with Aamir.
