Hyderabad, March 14 (NationPress) The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) organized demonstrations throughout Telangana on Friday in response to the suspension of its MLA Jagdish Reddy from the Assembly for the entire Budget session.
At the behest of BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, party supporters conducted protests at various locations. Demonstrators burned effigies of the Congress government and shouted slogans against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Leaders from the main opposition party claimed that the Congress government aimed to suppress their voice in the Assembly by suspending their MLA. They asserted that the government is utilizing this suspension as a means to prevent the BRS from addressing public issues.
Jagdish Reddy was suspended from the Assembly on Thursday following his alleged inappropriate comments directed at Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.
The former minister made these remarks during the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor for his address to the joint session of the State Legislature on the opening day.
BRS leaders described his suspension as undemocratic and pledged to persist with the protests until the suspension is revoked.
They noted that since the government led by A. Revanth Reddy has accomplished little in the past 15 months, it is conspiring against BRS leaders in the Assembly out of fear that they might expose its shortcomings.
They warned that if the government attempts to silence the BRS in the Assembly, the party will take the matter to the people.
In the meantime, Rama Rao expressed gratitude to BRS supporters for mobilizing protests statewide against the suspension of Jagdish Reddy.
He urged them to maintain this enthusiasm in opposing the government’s undemocratic actions and its failure to fulfill promises made to the public.
KTR stated that unable to respond to inquiries from BRS MLA and former minister Jagdish Reddy, the Congress government chose to flee the House by suspending him.
“The government cannot escape from four crore people,” he asserted.
