Kolkata, March 14 (NationPress) The BJP's West Bengal unit has unveiled the names of 25 new organisational district presidents in the state.
Among these 25 newly appointed organisational district presidents, 15 are fresh faces.
According to party sources, the announcement of the remaining 18 organisational district presidents is expected soon, likely within the next few days.
The BJP currently has a total of 43 organisational districts in West Bengal, which encompass the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies and the 294 Assembly constituencies across the state.
A member of the BJP's state committee in West Bengal remarked, “Once the complete list of organisational district presidents is released, it will be followed by the significant announcement of the new state president for the party in West Bengal.”
The existing state president of the BJP in West Bengal, Sukanta Majumdar, who is also a Lok Sabha member, currently serves as a Minister of State in the Union Cabinet.
Given that the BJP adheres to a “one person, one post” policy, it is likely that Majumdar will be replaced as the party's state secretary in West Bengal.
According to the list of 25 newly elected organisational district presidents, released by the party's state general secretary and legislator, Dipak Barman, who oversaw the internal organisational elections, six are from North Bengal while 19 are from South Bengal.
Attention was particularly focused on the new appointments for the two organisational districts of Tamluk and Kanthi, located in East Midnapore district, which is the home district of the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari.
The updated list indicates that the organisational district presidents for both Tamluk and Kanthi have undergone changes.
In Tamluk's case, the shift was necessary as the previous organisational district president and party MLA from Haldia Assembly constituency, Tapasi Mandal, had just joined the Trinamool Congress earlier this week. She has now been succeeded by Malay Sinha, known for his strong organisational background.
