Guwahati, March 14 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah has commenced a three-day visit to Assam starting Friday and is scheduled to participate in a variety of events over the next few days.

HM Shah arrived in Jorhat on Friday evening, where he was welcomed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

In a post on X, the Home Minister stated: “Arrived in Jorhat, Assam for a two-day tour of the Northeast. I will participate in the land transfer ceremony between the Assam Rifles and the Government of Mizoram. Furthermore, I will inaugurate the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Assam and review the execution of three new criminal statutes in the northeastern states.

“I will also engage with our youth in the Bodoland Territorial Region at the 57th Annual Conference of the All Bodo Students Union. I am looking forward to these events,” he added.

After Jorhat, HM Shah moved to Dergaon in Golaghat District, where he is spending the night at the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy.

On Saturday morning, he is set to inaugurate this advanced police academy, a vital enhancement to Assam’s law enforcement framework.

Following the inauguration, HM Shah will head to Mizoram for a ceremony commemorating the relocation of the Assam Rifles unit from Aizawl to Zokhawsang, located about 15 km from the state capital.

This transition is anticipated to improve the Assam Rifles' operational capabilities in the area. Upon returning to Assam, HM Shah will spend the night at the state guest house in Koinadhara.

On Sunday, he is expected to address the 57th Annual Conference of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) in Dotma, Kokrajhar District.

The ABSU, which signed the significant Bodo Peace Accord five years ago, conducts this conference to deliberate on education, youth development, and the Mission Quality Education Movement-2030.

The conference will include sports competitions, literary events, and cultural programs aimed at enhancing community involvement and development.

On Sunday, HM Shah will also participate in a meeting with all Chief Ministers of the northeastern states to discuss the implementation of various laws under the Bhraitya Nyay Sanhita.

Each state will present their updates to the Union Home Minister on this topic. Additionally, HM Shah will engage with the Chief Ministers concerning the law and order situations in each northeastern state.
