Mumbai, Jan 31 (NationPress) Director Aditya Kripalani, who is looking forward to the release of his upcoming film 'Main Actor Nahin Hoon' featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, has revealed how the leading actor adapted for his role in the movie.
The film delves into the themes of personal growth, vulnerability, and the craft of acting. It also features Chitrangada Satarupa and narrates the journey of Mouni (portrayed by Chitrangada Satarupa), a disenchanted yet principled actor in Mumbai, who fortuitously connects with Adnan Baig (played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a recently retired senior banker in Frankfurt, via an online audition.
The film's distinctiveness is mirrored in its production approach. The movie was filmed live over the course of 28 days in both India and Germany. It stands as the first Indian film to be shot across two continents in real-time with a unified crew. A dedicated team of 35 crew members worked in Mumbai, while 15 others operated in Frankfurt.
Regarding the film, Aditya Kripalani stated, “This presented a unique challenge and a correspondingly rewarding experience. Nawaz Sahab dedicated ten days in Germany before filming to immerse himself in the character of Adnan. He adjusted his pace to that of the European lifestyle, adding remarkable depth to his portrayal.”
He also remarked, “I observed a transformation in his body language, transitioning from the bustling energy of Mumbai to the serene, contemplative atmosphere of Europe. This immersive journey was vital for authentically connecting the film to both environments.”
He elaborated, “The film's production process showcases the dedication of our entire team. Achieving precise sunlight matching and continuity while filming live with two separate crews in different nations was a monumental task. However, the outcome is a profound exploration of the human experience, enhanced by the real-time shooting.”
Nawazuddin Siddiqui takes on the role of Adnan Baig, a man navigating anxiety and transitions, portrayed with both deep empathy and haunting realism.
Reflecting on the film, he said, “We had no control over locations; Chitra was filming in a train from Jogeshwari to Mahim, getting off, and then returning for retakes. I was experiencing a similar process in Frankfurt. Life demands adaptation. Therefore, we opted for live shooting. Kudos to the team for executing it technically. We faced extreme weather challenges. While I was freezing, in India, the intense heat sometimes caused the cameras to overheat, forcing us to halt shooting for hours.”
Produced by Aditya Kripalani, Faizuddin Siddiqui, and Sweta Chhabria Kripalani, 'Main Actor Nahin Hoon' is a collaborative project between Mumba Devi Motion Pictures and Side Hero Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The film presents a captivating narrative on how art can serve as a catalyst for emotional exploration and personal development.
