Hyderabad, Feb 6 (NationPress) The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) from the Union Government has sanctioned ₹176.5 crore to Telangana under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme.
Under this initiative, states can receive an incentive amount for meeting specified milestones.
According to an official order from the Ministry, Telangana has successfully completed activities related to Milestone 1 and Milestone 2 of Initiative A as well as Milestone 1 of Initiative B. The state qualifies for ₹125 crore in Initiative A and ₹51.5 crore in Initiative B.
For Milestone 1 of Initiative A, Telangana has implemented MV Tax concessions. The total incentive eligible under this milestone amounts to ₹50 crore, as stated in the order.
For Milestone 2 of Initiative A, the state proposed a plan to retire government vehicles that are older than 15 years and has successfully scrapped vehicles as per the target. The eligible incentive under this milestone totals ₹75 crore.
In Milestone 1 Initiative B, Telangana has awarded contracts for Automated Testing Stations (ATSs) in 37 districts, with 21 of these stations located in priority districts. The state is set to receive ₹31.5 crore for priority districts and ₹20 crore for non-priority districts, leading to a total eligible incentive of ₹51.5 crore.
In the meantime, Telangana Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has urged department officials to expedite the construction of roads under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).
He instructed officials to adhere to guidelines while undertaking projects categorized into three segments: roads connecting district headquarters, roads linking district headquarters to the state capital, and improving existing road infrastructure.
During a meeting, the minister emphasized the need to appoint consultants to develop detailed project reports for HAM roads, prioritizing roads in poor condition.
The meeting was convened with senior R&B officials to assess the progress of road projects initiated under the HAM.
