Mumbai, Jan 22 (NationPress) The cinematic masterpiece “Padmaavat”, featuring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is celebrating its seventh anniversary. To commemorate this significant milestone, the film will be re-released in theaters on January 24.

The announcement was made by Bhansali Productions on Instagram, where they showcased the film's poster.

“Experience the epic saga on the big screen once more. #Padmaavat returns to cinemas on 24th January.

This acclaimed historical drama, inspired by the poem Padmavat by Malik Muhammad Jayasi, narrates the story of Rani Padmavati’s extraordinary beauty, her resistance against the tyrant Sultan Alauddin Khilji, and her unwavering bravery.

Released in 2018, “Padmaavat” also features Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Raza Murad, and Anupriya Goenka. The plot centers around Queen Padmavati, who lives in harmony with her Rajput husband until a merciless sultan, Alauddin Khilji, wages war on their realm driven by his obsession with her beauty.

Even though it was not screened in some regions of India, it became the third highest-grossing Indian film of 2018.

Prior to its debut, the film faced significant controversies.

Organizations representing the Rajput community, including Shri Rajput Karni Sena, protested and vandalized film sets, claiming the film depicts Padmavati, a Rajput queen, negatively. Bhansali himself was assaulted during filming.

While shooting in Kolhapur in 2017, the film crew was ambushed, leading to injuries among animals and damage to numerous costumes. Several Muslim leaders protested against the alleged misrepresentation of Alauddin Khilji and called for a ban on the film.

This marked the third collaboration between Ranveer and Deepika with Bhansali, following their work in “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela” in 2013 and “Bajirao Mastani” in 2015.
