Mumbai, March 14 (NationPress) Playback singer Papon enjoys indulging in crispy, syrupy Jalebis during the Holi festivities. As the nation immerses itself in the vibrant colors of Holi, the singer shared insights with IANS about his culinary celebrations during this occasion.
Papon expressed, “This year, I will be celebrating Holi with my family, close friends, and of course, the children. Observing their joy as they engage with colors and laughter makes the festival even more meaningful. It’s all about spreading happiness, cherishing the moment, and creating beautiful memories together.”
He elaborated, “For me, Holi symbolizes togetherness. In Assam, it is traditionally known as Phakua or Dol Utsav, celebrated enthusiastically, particularly in Barpeta, where people engage with local colors and sing Dol Geet, the traditional Holi melodies. I fondly recall my childhood celebrations with friends and family, getting soaked in colors and relishing the festive spirit. Those carefree moments remain close to my heart.”
Discussing his favorite festive treat, the singer consistently highlighted the traditional Indian delicacy, Jalebi.
He remarked, “No Holi celebration is complete without sweets! Growing up, I was always fond of indulging in crispy, syrupy Jalebis during the festival. Nowadays, our Holi feast has become more inclusive; alongside traditional sweets, we also offer brownies and various desserts for the children. It’s a celebration where everyone can find something they adore, making it even more enjoyable.”
Papon also talked about the significance of music in Holi celebrations, stating, “Music has always played a vital role in my Holi festivities.”
“Over the years, I have performed and recorded numerous Holi songs, helping to keep the festive spirit vibrant through music. One of my songs, ‘Jeans Pant Aur Choli,’ encapsulates the fun and colorful essence of Holi, celebrating the joy and colors of the festival,” he added.
