Kolkata, March 14 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, announced on Friday that the state BJP unit plans to hold at least 2,000 rallies, both large and small, for this year's Ram Navami, taking place on April 6.

While addressing a public gathering in his constituency of Nandigram in East Midnapore district, LoP Adhikari mentioned that he anticipates participation in the Ram Navami rallies this year to be double compared to last year.

"This year, Ram Navami will be celebrated on a grand scale. I will be out on the streets that day. Last year, around 50 lakh Hindus participated in the rallies for Ram Navami. We held 1,000 rallies then. This year, with 2,000 rallies planned, we expect around one crore Hindus to join us," he stated.

He also noted that there will be no need for prior administrative approval to join the rallies, allowing for a more spontaneous turnout.

During the event, LoP Adhikari also revealed that the construction of a Ram Temple at Sonachura in Nandigram will commence on April 6.

"The temple will be designed similarly to the iconic Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The laying of the foundation stone will coincide with Ram Navami this year. There will be additional temple-related facilities, including an ayurvedic and an allopathic dispensary nearby," he added.

In response, the ruling Trinamool Congress leadership accused LoP Adhikari of indirectly inciting tension regarding the Ram Navami festival.

"All religious festivals, including Ram Navami, are celebrated peacefully in West Bengal each year. I am unsure of what the Leader of the Opposition truly intends," remarked Chandrima Bhattacharya, the Union Minister of State for Finance (Independent charge).
