London, March 14 (NationPress) Manchester United's head coach Ruben Amorim emphasized that his team's steadiness after conceding in their recent matches showcases their progress as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League encounter against Leicester City on Sunday. United managed to secure a 1-1 draw against second-placed Arsenal last week, demonstrating resilience to earn a crucial point. They followed this up with a remarkable comeback on Thursday, overcoming a deficit to triumph over Real Sociedad 4-1, thus clinching a place in the Europa League quarterfinals.
"I feel that in the last games we can understand better the idea of what we want to do. We are better understanding the plan for the games," Amorim conveyed to the media.
"We are allowing the team more time to achieve victories and draws. We do not lose our composure after conceding a goal. We are learning to recognize the pivotal moments of the game and are also grasping our desired style of play better.
"I am aware that in football, especially at this point, we can experience a phenomenal moment and then fall rapidly. Thus, our concentration is on continuing and not becoming overly jubilant or despondent. My goal is to keep progressing; we must endure."
Currently sitting in 14th place with 34 points from 28 games, United aims to enhance their standings with a win against 19th-placed Leicester, who are struggling after suffering five consecutive league defeats.
"Everything holds significance, and we must maintain this sense of confidence that we can secure wins. The duration of rest or preparation for the next match is irrelevant," Amorim stated.
"We are capable of achieving this. Our performance against Arsenal illustrated the importance of humility, which we tend to overlook. We need to disregard the table and approach Leicester with the same intensity we did against Real Sociedad.
"Our objective is to win, elevate our position in the standings, and, most importantly, sustain this feeling of victory and growth as a team."
Amorim also shared a positive update regarding Mason Mount ahead of the away game on Sunday.
The Reds have been without Mount since mid-December when he exited the field during the first half of their derby win over Manchester City. This has been a frustrating setback for the England international, who was beginning to excel in Amorim's new 3-4-3 strategy.
However, he returned to training earlier this week, and the manager indicated he could feature at the King Power Stadium.
"I think he will be on the bench," Amorim remarked following the Europa League match against Real Sociedad on Thursday.
"We will see, but we need every player, and if he is fit, I will play him. Even five minutes from Mason Mount would be ideal."
When asked how eager he is to have Mount back, Ruben responded with enthusiasm: "I have already expressed my admiration for Mason Mount. I see his efforts and know how much he endures.
"He does everything correctly. His diet is excellent, his physical condition is superb, and he is committed. Perhaps he is overthinking things. He was a European champion and possesses immense talent.
"When a player demonstrates such dedication, he will always receive the support of everyone at the club. We will manage his workload carefully, and we have seen players face challenges at various times. If he can stay fit, I have great faith in Mason Mount, and we need players like him," he concluded.
