Chennai, Feb 21 (NationPress) The renowned Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu, who portrays Sajanachandran in the much-anticipated political drama L2: Empuraan directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, has revealed the amusing way he convinced Prithviraj to include him in Empuraan.
During a recent event, actor Mohanlal, who plays the lead role in the film, introduced Suraj's character, Sajanachandran. He also shared a link to a video where Suraj discusses his role.
In the video, Suraj recounted, “While shooting for ‘Driving Licence’, where both Prithviraj and I acted, I casually mentioned, ‘Raju (Prithviraj), I enjoyed watching Lucifer.’ Many fans may have told him this before, and he replied, ‘Thanks, bro.’
“But I pointed out a flaw in Lucifer that I felt others missed. I asked him, ‘Did you catch it?’ Raju seemed intrigued. ‘No, I can't think of anything,’ he admitted. ‘What’s the flaw?’
“I told him, ‘The major flaw in Lucifer is that I wasn't included in it. I felt that strongly.’ Raju laughed and said, ‘Oh, was that it? I just realized!’”
“I then suggested, ‘Since you’re making the sequel, Empuraan, you must rectify that flaw.’ He assured me he would certainly address it.”
Suraj humorously mentioned that he assured Prithviraj that while he had no issue, his fans might.
“‘I’ll take care of everything,’ Raju responded. A few days later, he called and said, ‘Bro, I’m fixing that flaw now!’” Suraj shared, explaining how he secured his role in Empuraan.
Suraj elaborated on his character, revealing, “My character is named Sajanachandran. He’s a political leader who plays a significant role in Kerala politics.”
The film L2: Empuraan (L2E), featuring Mohanlal, is directed by Prithviraj and produced by Antony Perumbavoor and Subaskaran. The screenplay is written by Murali Gopy, with music composed by Deepak Dev. The cinematography is handled by Sujith Vaassudev and the editing by Akhilesh Mohan.
It’s worth noting that Prithviraj initially announced that this film would be a commercial entertainer starring Mohanlal. Murali Gopy has mentioned that this film is the second installment in a trilogy.
Lucifer, the franchise's first part released in 2019 and marking Prithviraj’s directorial debut, became a blockbuster within eight days, grossing over Rs 200 crore, establishing itself as the highest-grossing Malayalam film.
With the sequel set to release on March 27 this year, expectations are incredibly high.
