Ramallah, Feb 4 (NationPress) A Palestinian official has disclosed that 60 Palestinian prisoners, who were released by Israel under a ceasefire agreement and are currently located in Egypt, are set to be deported to Turkiye, Qatar, Malaysia, and Pakistan.

According to Abdullah Zaghari, the leader of the Palestinian Prisoners Club, each of these four nations will accommodate 15 prisoners. He added that there are presently 70 Palestinian prisoners residing in a hotel situated in the New Administrative Capital of Egypt, awaiting deportation, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

Zaghari also indicated that negotiations are ongoing with additional countries to find accommodations for the remaining prisoners, and discussions with Cairo are being held to potentially host some individuals who may be released in future rounds.

On January 15, a joint statement from Egypt, Qatar, and the US, who are serving as mediators, confirmed that Hamas and Israel have reached a ceasefire agreement that encompasses the exchange of prisoners and hostages, with the goal of achieving lasting peace and a permanent ceasefire between the two parties.

Following the commencement of the ceasefire on January 19, Hamas has released 18 hostages in return for Israel liberating hundreds of Palestinians from its detention facilities.

A recent report from the Times of Israel highlighted that Israel stipulated that Palestinians convicted of serious offenses should not be sent to the Gaza Strip or the West Bank. Consequently, Egypt has consented to temporarily shelter these individuals.

Earlier on Saturday, Israel released 183 Palestinian prisoners as part of the fourth prisoner-for-hostage exchange under the current truce agreement with Hamas, as stated by Palestinian sources.

Zaghari informed Xinhua that the released prisoners were handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross by Israeli authorities.

Among the freed individuals, 150 were from the Gaza Strip, 32 from the West Bank, and one, who holds Egyptian nationality, will be returned to Egypt.
