Suicide Attack Claims Lives of 8 Security Personnel in Turbat, Balochistan; BLA Takes Responsibility
Quetta, Jan 4 (NationPress) A suicide attack on a passenger van and a police vehicle resulted in the deaths of at least eight security personnel and left over 40 others injured, primarily security officials.

Quetta, Jan 4 (NationPress) A devastating suicide bombing aimed at a passenger van and a police vehicle has tragically taken the lives of at least eight security personnel, with reports indicating that more than 40 others have sustained injuries, most of whom are security officials.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has openly claimed responsibility for this heinous act.

Details reveal that the suicide blast took place in the Dhang area of Turbat, Balochistan.

A significant explosion was heard as both a passenger van and an adjacent police security vehicle were targeted.

It was later disclosed that a majority of the individuals aboard the van were also security personnel.

Immediately following the explosion, police and security forces were dispatched to the site, cordoning off the area.

Rescue teams hurried to transport the injured and deceased to local hospitals, where medical staff confirmed the casualty reports, noting that many of the injured were in critical condition.

The faction of the BLA known as the Majeed Brigade has asserted its role in the attack.

In a statement, they declared, "The Majeed Brigade Firdayee (suicide bomber) unit of the Baloch Liberation Army executed a Fidayeen attack on a convoy of the occupying Pakistani army in Turbat, resulting in multiple military personnel casualties. Our organization takes full responsibility for this operation."

This recent incident is part of a broader pattern of assaults by the BLA in Balochistan, targeting military convoys, security checkpoints, and police vehicles.

Historically, the BLA's Majeed Brigade has conducted ambushes against security personnel and their families.

Balochistan remains one of the most perilous regions for Pakistani security forces.

In a recent press briefing by the Pakistan Armed Forces media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), it was disclosed that over 57,775 military operations were conducted in 2024, primarily in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

As 2025 begins, the recent BLA attacks in Turbat highlight the ongoing security challenges that will likely keep the forces on high alert.
