Agartala, March 4 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, announced on Tuesday that 87 investors from various regions of the country have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to invest ₹3,700 crore into multiple sectors during the recent investors' summit held in Agartala.

During the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony for 34 projects in the Unakoti district, he highlighted that such investment proposals were unprecedented in Tripura's history. Emphasizing that Tripura now ranks second in terms of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) in the northeast, Saha noted a significant increase in per-capita income.

He added that numerous investors are being drawn to Tripura due to its transparent governance and tranquil environment. The Chief Minister stated that the state government is emphasizing industrial development through MSMEs, and during a recent discussion with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, it was assured that railway infrastructure projects would progress, including the development of a new railway track from Dharmanagar to Kailashahar.

“The public has placed their trust in us, granting the BJP a second term. They believe in our commitment. Our administration is dedicated to addressing challenges, in contrast to the previous government that contributed to them,” he stated. Saha also mentioned that the region's tallest 14-storey building, which will consolidate all departmental directorates, is set to be constructed in Gurkhabasti, on the outskirts of Agartala.

He revealed that ₹134 crore has been earmarked for the high-rise project, making it a pioneering initiative in the northeastern region. “I want to remind everyone that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook the surgical strike in Pakistan, the opposition demanded proof. Therefore, I invite opposition leaders to witness the progress whenever we inaugurate a project. PM Modi has consistently stated that without developing the northeast, India's overall progress is unattainable, and this initiative is already underway,” he stated.

Saha, who previously served as the state BJP President, recalled PM Modi's promise before the 2018 Assembly elections regarding the implementation of the HIRA model (highway, internet, railway, and airway). He affirmed that the Prime Minister has fulfilled this commitment by enhancing internet connectivity, national highways, and railway infrastructure in Tripura. Furthermore, there has been substantial advancement in airways.

Saha asserted that this genuine development is the result of a double-engine government. He emphasized that peace and effective law enforcement are crucial for growth, highlighting that since PM Modi assumed office, several peace agreements have been established, restoring tranquility in the northeast.
