Guwahati, March 4 (NationPress) The Assam government has shown its heartfelt appreciation towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his role in organizing the investment summit ‘Advantage Assam’ 2.0.

During a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated: “The #AssamCabinet has expressed its heartfelt thanks to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji for his remarkable efforts in positioning our state as a prime investment hub during #AdvantageAssam2. We have also established a system to review the MoUs signed.”

The recent investment summit, Advantage Assam 2.0, has successfully attracted investments totaling at least Rs 4.5 lakh crore.

“Sectors such as hydrocarbons, which are our strength, as well as mines and minerals, have drawn the most investment. We are now aiming to transform Assam into a prosperous industrial state akin to its status in 1947. Assam was the first industrial state in the country,” Sarma commented earlier.

He emphasized that the summit's success underscores Assam's rising potential as an investment destination.

“With its rich natural resources, advantageous geographic location, and forward-thinking policies, the state is steadily establishing itself as a significant player in India's industrial arena. The substantial investment influx is anticipated to enhance job opportunities, infrastructure development, and overall economic growth in the area,” Sarma added.

Additionally, the state cabinet has resolved to create Ratan Tata Electronics City in Jagiroad.

The Chief Minister remarked: “In acknowledgment of the extraordinary contributions of the Tata Group and its Chairman Emeritus, Late Shri Ratan Naval Tata (the first Assam Vaibhav awardee), the Cabinet has sanctioned the naming of the entire area encompassing Assam Semiconductor & Electronics Logistics Park (ASELP), Jagiroad Tata OSAT center, and the proposed township with social infrastructure, as Ratan Tata Electronics City (RTEC), Jagiroad.”

Sarma noted that semiconductor plants in Gujarat and Assam, in conjunction with forthcoming projects in quantum physics and artificial intelligence, will be developed in India.

He emphasized the necessity for India to provide the skilled workforce required in these sectors, not just for domestic needs but also for global demands.

“To prepare for this, I stress the importance of equipping India’s youth with essential skills. The semiconductor project at Jagiroad is advancing swiftly, with production anticipated to commence by the end of the year,” he stated.
