Guwahati, Feb 11 (NationPress) Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma engaged with Singapore's President Tharman Shanmugaratnam on Tuesday, exploring the state's capacity to emerge as a key destination for international investments.

On X, CM Sarma expressed, "It was a tremendous privilege to meet the President of Singapore, H.E @Tharman_S, today. Our talks focused on ongoing joint initiatives, particularly highlighting Assam's significance as a fundamental element in the India-Singapore Comprehensive Partnership. I also reminisced about the cherished moments from His Excellency's visit to Assam in 2022."

"We hold great appreciation for Singapore's involvement in #AdvantageAssam2 and anticipate enhancing our partnership in burgeoning sectors like semiconductors, green energy, and advanced technology," he continued.

During his two-day trip to Singapore, the Assam CM also met with leaders from the semiconductor sector.

CM Sarma emphasized the necessity for Singaporean industry players to join as collaborators in the forthcoming semiconductor manufacturing facility located in the Jagiroad area of Morigaon district, Assam.

He tweeted, "I commenced my day in Singapore with an engaging conversation with semiconductor industry leaders. Semiconductors represent a crucial dimension of India-Singapore cooperation, and I've invited them to partner with us at Assam’s upcoming #ElectronicCity in Jagiroad."

Additionally, CM Sarma acknowledged Singapore's proficiency in town planning.

He noted, "Today in Singapore, I assessed Surbana Jurong's ongoing projects in Assam alongside Mr. Low Cher Ek and his team. We aim to utilize Singapore’s town planning knowledge to develop Assam’s future cities and industrial parks, thereby improving the #EaseofLiving for our citizens."

The Chief Minister recently visited South Korea and Japan, where he held several discussions with investors, inviting them to participate in the Advantage Assam summit.

CM Sarma also mentioned that this summit is poised to attract greater investments to the state.

He indicated that there would be increased government employment opportunities and support for entrepreneurship for the residents of the state.

Significantly, a major investor summit titled 'Advantage Assam 2.0' is scheduled to take place in Guwahati on February 25 and 26.
