Guwahati, Jan 20 (NationPress) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Monday that the state is ready to evolve into a thriving automobile manufacturing ecosystem capable of transforming the entire northeast.

Currently visiting Seoul, the capital of South Korea, Sarma aims to highlight Assam’s potential as an attractive investment destination. The state government is gearing up to host an investment summit—Advantage Assam—in February in Guwahati.

Speaking to leading industry figures in Seoul, the Assam CM stated, "I firmly believe that establishing an automobile manufacturing ecosystem in Assam could significantly alter the socio-economic landscape of the North East.

"During my discussions with CEOs and leaders from South Korea’s automobile ancillary sector, I extended our state's unwavering support for those interested in establishing a presence in Assam. With easy access to India’s $100 billion auto industry and the markets of South East Asia, Assam presents unique advantages.

CM Sarma also engaged with a delegation from the Korean International Trade Association (KITA) to explore investment opportunities in Assam.

He remarked, "Had a productive meeting with KITA, the country’s largest business organization representing over 73,000 companies. We are particularly focusing on how Assam can utilize KITA's extensive network to open up new markets for Assam’s tea, silk, and agricultural products.

Additionally, the Assam CM had a fruitful discussion with Kyungsung Kang, the President of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), regarding collaborative strategies for growth and development in trade, commerce, industry, and skill development to benefit both Assam and South Korean enterprises.

Importantly, the Advantage Assam summit aims to attract global investors to the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the summit.

According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the event scheduled for February 25 and 26, will also feature the traditional Jhumur dance of the tea tribe communities.

Sarma expressed, "This summit serves as a platform to showcase Assam's rich cultural heritage to a global audience while attracting potential investors.

Notably, a stunning Jhumur dance performance involving over 7,500 dancers and artists will be part of this extraordinary event, as stated by the CM.
