The marathon, themed "Hand In Hand With Border Population", transcends a mere sports event, serving as a crucial initiative to empower the youth in border regions and foster a healthier nation.

The Director General of BSF, Daljeet Singh Choudhary, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

In his address, he highlighted that this marathon is designed not only to motivate the youth towards fitness but also to enhance their health awareness.

"This marks a significant step by BSF to inspire the country’s youth to embrace a healthy lifestyle, and we are dedicated to turning that vision into reality," stated Choudhary.

He further noted, "Bordermen Marathon 2025 is more than just a race; it embodies a celebration of fitness, sportsmanship, and patriotism. It aligns with the objectives of the ‘Fit India Movement’ and ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, reflecting BSF’s dedication to directing the youth’s energy positively and constructively."

This annual marathon, which commenced in 2022, is organized under the banner of the Athletics Federation of India and has seen a remarkable increase in scale and popularity each year. This year, the event is anticipated to be even grander, with over 5,200 athletes, including international professionals, slated to participate. The rising involvement of youth from Punjab's six border districts further amplifies the marathon's importance and success.

A participating youth remarked, "BSF’s Bordermen Marathon 2025 is an excellent initiative. It conveys a powerful message to the youth to steer clear of drugs and concentrate on their health. Events like this are essential for BSF to continue organizing to foster a healthier generation."

The marathon comprises various categories, including a Full Marathon (42.195 km), a Half Marathon (21.097 km), and a 10 km race, catering to both seasoned athletes and novice runners. In a commendable effort to promote women's involvement in sports, BSF has waived registration fees for women in all categories this year.

Cash prizes will be awarded to winners in each category: Rs 1.5 lakh for the Full Marathon, Rs 75,000 for the Half Marathon, and Rs 40,000 for the 10 km race.
