Visakhapatnam, April 23 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on Wednesday evening, received the mortal remains of J.S. Chandramouli, a victim of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which occurred on Tuesday.

Chandramouli was among the 26 tourists who tragically lost their lives in this heinous attack.

The Chief Minister honored Chandramouli's memory at the Visakhapatnam Airport, offering floral tributes and extending condolences to the grieving family.

Joined by Union Minister for Civil Aviation, K. Rammohan Naidu, State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, and Visakhapatnam MP Sribharat, the Chief Minister walked alongside the funeral vehicle, participating in chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai".

In a media address, Naidu strongly condemned the attack and highlighted the need for national unity in the face of such threats. He shared eyewitness accounts that indicated Chandramouli attempted to escape before being shot, calling the incident an organized and premeditated act of terrorism.

"This is not merely an attack on individuals but an assault on the integrity and peace of India," Naidu asserted.

He pointed out that India recently experienced peaceful elections and increasing employment opportunities, particularly in Kashmir, making such attacks even more reprehensible.

Reiterating the state's commitment to national security, Naidu announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of two martyrs from Andhra Pradesh - Chandramouli and IT professional Madhusudan from Kavali.

Madhusudan, who lived in Bengaluru, was also a victim of the terror attack.

“This is a moment for unity. I urge every citizen to support the Union government's initiatives in securing the nation. Anyone attempting to destabilize our country will face the strictest penalties,” Naidu stated.

He emphasized the importance of public vigilance, encouraging citizens to act as intelligence officers by reporting any suspicious activities.

Furthermore, he expressed concern regarding the timing of the attack, which coincided with the U.S. Vice President’s visit to India and the Prime Minister’s overseas trip.

The Chief Minister assured that Andhra Pradesh, with its extensive coastline, would remain vigilant and that cooperation between the state and Union governments would be enhanced.

“India is destined to rise to global prominence by 2047. Such attacks are desperate attempts by forces trying to hinder our progress,” he added.

The entire nation is united in grief and determination to combat terrorism in all its forms, the Chief Minister remarked.
