Hyderabad, Jan 22 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao has strongly criticized the assault on former MLA K. Bhupal Reddy, which was reportedly carried out by Congress party members in Nalgonda district.
KTR highlighted that the former MLA, who faces physical challenges, was ruthlessly attacked in the presence of law enforcement. Instead of addressing the perpetrators, the police took Bhupal Reddy into custody.
The BRS leader, commonly referred to as KTR, expressed his outrage via 'X' on Wednesday, condemning both the assault and the arrest of the former MLA.
KTR asserted that the concept of 'people's governance' in Telangana exists merely in name, as even a physically challenged former MLA is left unprotected.
He pointed fingers at Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy for orchestrating the attack, claiming that permission was withheld for the Nalgonda farmers' Rythu Mahadharna because the Congress party was 'fearful' of the BRS.
KTR stated: 'Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy's goons ripped down flex banners and assaulted the former MLA in a government office, all while police stood by idly. The police ended up arresting the victim instead of the assailants.'
'This exemplifies the chaotic rule of the Congress. I denounce this vicious attack on our leader Kancharla Bhupal Reddy. I urge the DGP to file charges against those accountable,' KTR posted.
The Rythu Mahadharna was meant to take place on Tuesday, but the necessary permissions were not granted.
Congress workers allegedly dismantled flex banners, prompting objections from BRS workers. The turmoil unfolded in a municipality office, where Bhupal Reddy held a dharna, claiming that officials acted without proper notification.
The BRS leaders demanded accountability from the Nalgonda Municipal Commissioner. Police forcibly removed the BRS leaders from the municipality premises, sparking a verbal conflict between Bhupal Reddy, municipal chairman Burri Srinivas Reddy, and Congress leader Gummala Mohan Reddy. Supporters from both parties resorted to throwing chairs and pots. Law enforcement intervened to restore order.
