Mumbai, March 4 (NationPress) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis disclosed in a formal response to the state assembly that drugs valued at Rs 4,249.90 crore were confiscated, with 14,230 individuals detained for drug consumption in the year 2024.
Fadnavis, overseeing the Home Department, reported that 2,738 cases were registered concerning drug possession and trafficking, resulting in 3,627 arrests.
He also mentioned that drugs worth Rs 4,290.90 crore were seized throughout 2024.
According to the chief minister, 14,230 suspects were apprehended for drug use in 15,873 cases filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Government data indicates that Pune leads in trafficking and possession incidents, with drugs valued at Rs 3,679.36 crore seized.
In Pune, 204 arrests were made, and 129 cases were recorded.
