Bhopal, Feb 21 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, conveyed his congratulations to Vijender Gupta, the newly appointed Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, along with Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht. Chief Minister Yadav expressed confidence that the Assembly would greatly benefit from the extensive experience and understanding of parliamentary norms that Speaker Gupta and Deputy Speaker Bisht bring to the table.

Following CM Rekha Gupta and the Council of Ministers, the victorious BJP has designated Rohini MLA Vijender Gupta as Speaker of the Delhi Assembly.

Gupta, who faced multiple expulsions from the Delhi Assembly during the decade-long administration of former CM Arvind Kejriwal from the AAP, is now poised to lead the House. Vijender Gupta was one of the three BJP MLAs who succeeded in the Assembly elections during the Kejriwal wave from 2012 to 2020.

Notably, former Speaker Ram Niwas Goel and Arvind Kejriwal are no longer members of the Assembly.

The national capital recently hosted the swearing-in ceremony for new Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her Council of Ministers.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was present at the oath-taking event held at Ramlila Ground. Rekha Gupta marks the fourth woman to hold the esteemed position in the capital, following Sushma Swaraj (BJP), Sheila Dikshit (Congress), and Atishi (AAP). Gupta is set to lead the city's government 27 years after the last administration under Swaraj. The BJP celebrated a significant triumph in the Delhi Assembly elections, capturing 48 out of 70 seats, with results announced on February 8.

In contrast, the former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's AAP, which dominated the national capital for ten years, managed to secure only 22 seats, while the Congress was unable to gain any representation and continues to search for its political footing in Delhi after losing power in 2012.
