Bhopal, Jan 24 (NationPress) In celebration of the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar, the esteemed 18th-century monarch of the Holkar dynasty, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the foundation of a Rs 980 crore irrigation project in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday.

Maheshwar, known as the heart of the Holkar dynasty, will also host a significant cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Yadav to commemorate this special occasion.

The state cabinet is poised to endorse several vital initiatives focusing on social-economic development and women’s empowerment.

Among the anticipated resolutions, the cabinet is expected to approve a proposal to prohibit the sale of liquor at religious sites. Reports indicate that 16 religious locations within the state have been earmarked for this liquor ban.

Possible sites for the liquor prohibition include Ujjain, Orchha, Salkanpur, Chitrakoot, Omkareshwar, Maihar, Amarkantak, and the Pashupatinath temple vicinity, along with additional sites in Madhya Pradesh.

“Our aim is to protect our youth, who represent the future of our nation. The Madhya Pradesh government will implement a liquor ban at 17 religious sites,” Chief Minister Yadav stated on Thursday.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister remarked that liquor sales would be banned wherever Lord Krishna and Lord Ram have trodden in Madhya Pradesh.

To mark this historic occasion, the CM Yadav-led BJP government has planned to announce significant initiatives during the celebration of Ahilyabai's birth anniversary in Maheshwar.

Ahilyabai Holkar, revered as the noble queen of the Maratha Empire, was born on May 31, 1725, in Chondi village, Ahmednagar district, to Mankoji and Sushila Shinde and passed away on August 13, 1795.

Following the deaths of her husband Khanderao Holkar and father-in-law Malharrao Holkar, Ahilyabai adeptly took charge of the Holkar dynasty's affairs. Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar ruled from Maheshwar between 1767 and 1795, known for her vision and sense of justice. She implemented numerous reforms aimed at enhancing the welfare of her subjects, with her administration being recognized for its fairness, diligence, and effectiveness.
