Jaipur, April 23 (NationPress) Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma convened a high-level meeting on Wednesday to assess the law and order situation in the state. He underscored the need for enhanced security and strict vigilance, instructing officials to maintain a high state of alert, especially in border regions and public areas.
Participating in the meeting via video conference from his residence, CM Sharma engaged with Divisional Commissioners, IGs, Police Commissioners, District Collectors, and Superintendents of Police.
He emphasized the importance of seamless collaboration with security agencies, particularly in regions adjacent to the international border. Highlighting the need for increased surveillance, CM Sharma insisted that even minor incidents must be reported immediately and dealt with promptly.
He further called for a stronger police presence, ordering the deployment of adequate forces in public venues, tourist attractions, markets, and other densely populated areas to enhance the feeling of safety among both citizens and visitors.
Regular inspections of hotels, guest houses, and dharamshalas for any suspicious activities were also mandated. The Chief Minister insisted on the strict monitoring of social media platforms.
Measures must be taken against those disseminating misinformation, rumors, or inappropriate content. Timely dissemination of accurate information is crucial to prevent unnecessary panic, he added.
On the subject of border vigilance, he stated that special directives were issued to border districts to ensure constant coordination with border security forces. ADG Range in-charges were instructed to maintain close contact with local administrations and visit their respective ranges regularly.
Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack as a “shameful and cowardly act”, CM Sharma expressed the collective sorrow of the nation.
He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had curtailed his foreign visit and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had arrived at the attack site to assess the situation.
“No terrorist involved in this heinous act will be spared,” Sharma stated, reaffirming the government's commitment to combat terrorism with zero tolerance.
CM Sharma offered his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families. He personally contacted Neeraj Udhwani’s family, extending emotional support during this period of profound loss.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, senior officials from the Home Department, and key officers from the Chief Minister's Office. Senior administrative and police officials participated in the session virtually from various locations across the state.
