Guwahati, March 4 (NationPress) YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia is scheduled to meet with the Assam Police in Guwahati on Tuesday regarding his controversial remarks made during the 'India Got Latent' show, which has sparked significant backlash for the podcaster.
A legal case was filed against Allahbadia in Guwahati, and he was issued a summons to present himself before the Assam Police.
Last week, the Guwahati Crime Branch interrogated another YouTuber, Ashish Chanchalani, who is also caught up in the controversy due to his comments during an episode of the 'India Got Latent' show.
The questioning lasted several hours after Chanchalani arrived at the Crime Branch office.
"YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani appeared for questioning at the Crime Branch. He has cooperated with our investigation. We may contact him again if needed, but he is not currently scheduled for another visit. We have yet to hear back from others involved in the investigation, and they will receive new summonses soon," stated Joint Police Commissioner Ankur Jain to reporters.
Following Allahbadia's contentious comments on the show hosted by comedian Samay Raina, Chanchlani was included in the FIR filed in Assam.
Due to his remarks about parents and sexual matters in an episode, Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, has faced intense criticism and numerous complaints.
Chanchlani has requested the cancellation of the FIR lodged at the Guwahati Crime Branch and the Guwahati Police Commissionerate's Cyber Police Station.
Since the FIR in Maharashtra was filed earlier, the YouTuber has asked for the Guwahati FIR to be transferred to Mumbai. The Gauhat High Court granted him temporary relief on February 18 while considering his anticipatory bail application and instructed him to meet with the investigating officer within ten days.
The lawyer representing Chanchlani argued that their client did not make any statements on the show and that the FIR's allegations were directed solely at the co-accused. Under specific provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhtia, Information Technology Act, Cinematograph Act, and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, the Guwahati Police filed a formal complaint against Chanchlani on February 10.
