Hyderabad, Feb 21 (NationPress) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday challenged Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy to engage in a debate regarding the effectiveness of the Congress government in the state over the past 12 months.
While speaking at a public gathering in Narayanpet, he criticized leaders from both BRS and BJP for their claims that Congress has achieved nothing in the last year.
"Let’s debate the accomplishments of 10 years of BRS governance in the state, 11 years of BJP leadership at the national level, and the 12 months of our administration,” he stated, inviting BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao and BJP leader and Union Minister of State Bandi Sanjay to participate.
He demanded the BRS clarify why irrigation systems have remained undeveloped in Palamuru (united Mahabubnagar district) for a decade and questioned KCR on his inability to finalize the Palamuru-Rangareddy project within that timeframe.
He accused BRS of obstructing the Congress government’s initiatives aimed at completing irrigation projects in Palamuru to prevent migration.
Revanth Reddy alleged that KCR, during his tenure as Chief Minister, allowed Andhra Pradesh to reroute Krishna river water to Rayalaseema. "Were you not a mere observer when Jagan Mohan Reddy was diverting water to Rayalaseema?" he queried.
He stated that KCR's shortcomings have repercussions for the state today, recalling that KCR and his nephew Harish Rao held irrigation minister positions for a decade.
He noted that while water was reallocated to Rayalaseema, funds were steered to benefit the KCR family.
In response to KCR’s assertion that he strikes hard against his opponents, Revanth Reddy remarked that if KCR wishes to target someone, it should be his son, daughter, or son-in-law. "If you want to confront Congress, our party members will not back down," he warned.
Rejecting the BRS's claim that Congress has been inactive over the past year, he highlighted that immediately upon taking office, 55,000 jobs were created for the unemployed. Amma Adarsha pathashalas have been entrusted to women to promote their empowerment. Women have also been granted ownership of 600 buses within the Road Transport Corporation.
The government initiated development projects worth Rs. 5,000 crore in Kodangal and Rs. 1,000 crore in Narayanpet.
He emphasized that the government is providing 5 lakh Indiramma Indlu houses annually, asserting that this scheme will restore dignity to the underprivileged.
Revanth Reddy mentioned that 3,500 houses are being constructed in each Assembly constituency under the Indiramma Indlu initiative.
He further challenged the BRS to accept the proposition that Congress will compete in the upcoming local body elections in villages where Indiramma houses have been established, while BRS should only participate in villages where their government has provided double-bedroom homes.
He noted that for the first time in the nation, Telangana has conducted a caste census. "We have addressed the issue of sub-categorization of scheduled castes that had lingered for 30 years. Can’t KCR acknowledge these achievements?" he queried.
Revanth Reddy questioned the status of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise to deposit black money into the bank accounts of the impoverished. He accused the government of betraying farmers after pledging to double their income. "He promised that every poor individual would receive a house by 2022. Let him show where this has been fulfilled," he challenged.
"He vowed to provide two crore jobs annually. Aside from Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, who in Telangana has been hired?" he inquired.
