Mumbai, April 28 (NationPress) Shiv Sena MLA Manisha Kayande has called upon Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take serious action against Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar for his remarks deemed as "anti-national" and "supporting terrorism". In her correspondence, Kayande highlighted Wadettiwar's controversial statement regarding the Pahalgam terrorist attack, where he claimed that "terrorists did not inquire about the victims' religion".
Kayande stated, "Such a statement is tantamount to endorsing terrorism and indirectly supporting Pakistan, which perpetuates a proxy war against India through these heinous acts."
She added: "By implying that terrorists are 'neutral' in their attacks, Wadettiwar has diverted focus from Pakistan's brutality and disrespected the families of countless martyrs who have endured the horrors of Islamic terrorism. His comments whitewash the religious targeting of Hindus, security personnel, and nationalists, thereby compromising India's national interests at a critical moment when unity is essential."
Kayande further emphasized that this is not an isolated incident, noting that Congress leaders have repeatedly made statements that weaken India's global standing and demoralize the armed forces. She called for the Chief Minister to publicly denounce Wadettiwar's remarks as unacceptable and include him on a list of individuals whose statements align with Pakistan’s agenda.
In her demands, she urged Wadettiwar to apologize to the widows and orphans of terrorism and suggested that habitual offenders should be symbolically "sent to Pakistan" where their sympathies clearly lie.
"The citizens of Maharashtra anticipate their government to uphold national dignity and ensure that those who belittle the sacrifices of our brave martyrs are unequivocally rejected," she stated.
Previously, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis criticized Wadettiwar's comments, labeling them as insensitive. "His words are a painful reminder to the families of those lost in the Pahalgam attack. The victims perished before their loved ones, and it is baffling that Wadettiwar was not present to grasp the gravity of the situation. I question whether this is ignorance or something worse," he remarked.
State BJP Chief and Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule also condemned Wadettiwar's remarks, calling them the utmost insensitivity. "It has been established repeatedly that Hindus are targeted in Kashmir. What reality is Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar living in? Who does he aim to appease by asserting, 'terrorists have no caste or religion'? Are Congress leaders attempting to absolve terrorists?" he questioned.
