Bhubaneswar, April 24 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday presented floral tributes to Prashant Satpathy, who tragically lost his life in a heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, at his hometown Ishani in Balasore district.

The Chief Minister also spoke with Prashant's wife and other relatives at their home.

CM Majhi condemned the terrorist act targeting innocent tourists based on their religion in Pahalgam. He declared that the state government would take measures to secure employment for Prashant's wife and cover all educational expenses for his minor son.

Additionally, the Chief Minister announced a compensation of Rs 20 lakh for Prashant's family.

Accompanying CM Majhi, Odisha state BJP president Manmohan Samal, state Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, and Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sadangi also paid their last respects to Prashant.

A somber atmosphere enveloped the village as hundreds of residents gathered at Prashant's home to pay homage.

The attendees chanted slogans such as ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Prashant Satpathy Amar Rahe.’

Earlier, the special flight bringing Prashant's body arrived at Bhubaneswar Airport around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, state BJP President Manmohan Samal, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhakta Charan Das, Police DG Y.B. Khurania, and other high-ranking officials also laid floral tributes to Prashant.

Prashant's family, including his wife and son, were present at the airport.

Prashant, an employee of the central undertaking CIPET (Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology), Balasore, had traveled to Jammu and Kashmir for a holiday with his wife and son. He was among the 26 victims of the terrorist assault in Pahalgam on April 22.
