Agartala, April 23 (NationPress) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has once again expressed his strong condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack, asserting that such despicable violence is intended to disrupt the peace and socio-economic advancement in Jammu and Kashmir.

During a media interaction, the Chief Minister remarked that in the wake of the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A and the subsequent restoration of peace, a significant influx of tourists has been witnessed in J&K.

He acknowledged that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah played pivotal roles in the successful abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A, resulting in notable improvements in the socio-economic conditions of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The terrorists find it hard to accept these developments and, as a result, resort to violence. The Prime Minister and Home Minister have already indicated that a fitting response will be administered to the culprits,” stated Saha, who also oversees the Home portfolio.

Following the terror incident on Tuesday, the Tripura Chief Minister posted on X, stating, “I strongly condemn the cowardly attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. My condolences go out to the families of those who lost their loved ones, and I am praying for the swift recovery of the injured.”

Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar labeled the Pahalgam terror attacks as “barbaric,” commenting, “I am at a loss for words to describe this cowardly act. After the 2019 Pulwama attack, Tuesday’s incident marks one of the most significant attacks.”

Sarkar, a prominent Left leader, urged that comprehensive support be extended to the families of the deceased and injured.

He pointed out that despite the Prime Minister and Home Minister's assertions that the terror issues were resolved post-abrogation of Articles 370, terrorist activities continue to occur monthly in various regions of Jammu and Kashmir, with security forces being the primary victims.

In a related development, the opposition CPI-M and Congress organized separate candlelight vigils in Tripura to voice their sorrow over the terror attack.

“We vehemently condemn the terror attack and extend our heartfelt condolences to the tourists who were killed and injured in this horrific incident. We trust that both the Central and Jammu and Kashmir governments will implement all necessary measures to eradicate terrorism from the region and restore peace and normalcy,” stated Tripura Leader of Opposition and CPI-M Politburo member Jitendra Chaudhury, who led the party’s candlelight rally.
