Guwahati, January 20 (NationPress) In an astonishing incident, a woman hailing from Bihar delivered a baby on platform number four of Guwahati Railway Station on Monday, transforming a typical train journey into an unforgettable experience.
The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, reported that the woman was en route from Agartala to Barauni (located in Begusarai district of Bihar) aboard the Rani Kamlapati Express when she unexpectedly experienced labour pains.
Upon receiving this urgent news, NFR officials promptly intervened, advising the woman and her family to disembark at Guwahati Railway Station.
As the train reached Guwahati, railway medical staff, along with female personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), swiftly provided assistance, ensuring a successful delivery right at the station, as stated by the CPRO.
Following the birth, the woman and her newborn were quickly transferred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital via ambulance, accompanied by her husband for further medical care.
The authorities of Northeast Frontier Railway are consistently prepared to offer essential support to passengers in any crisis situation, Sharma emphasized.
Another railway representative confirmed that NFR has extended all initial aid to the woman and her family, and during their hospitalization, both mother and baby will receive extensive medical assistance through various health schemes offered by the government of Assam.
